Waverly, IA • 12, 8, & 4 Hour Adventure Options
Ingawanis Adventure Base is one of our favorite places in the Cedar Valley to explore and adventure. We're so excited to invite you to join us for an endurance challenge you'll never forget!
New this year, we are hosting three timed options, 12, 8, and 4 hours plus a single loop 10K with all events finishing together at Noon on New Year's Day. Yep, that means that the 12 hour option will kick off at Midnight on New Years!!! And YES, that also means that we'll have a New Year's Eve Party from 10 to Midnight to get things started. The loop is approximately a 10K. Participants will have an indoor check in station at the Start/Finish area in the historic dining hall w/ stone fire place and wood beam ceilings. You can leave all your drop gear and nutrition inside and will enter and exit through the dining hall each loop.
We'll have water and electrolyte drink mix, plus aid station snacks at the start/finish area. Participants are asked to bring your own gels/fuels throughout and can use the aid stations for addition caloric intake. Don't plan to rely solely on the aid station for the 8 or 12 hour events.
The course is a 10K loop through mature forest, up and down rocky ridges, through huge pines, and along the river that runs along the properties edge. Each loop will gain close to 1000 ft. total.

The History of The Critter
We've been hosting a New Year's Day event for well over a decade. The first one was a single-loop 50K through the Cedar Valley that was marked w/ marking paint on a fresh 6 inches of snow. We ran through both Waterloo and Cedar Falls, Katoski Greenbelt, Hartman Reserve, and George Wyth State Park. Aid stations were igloo coolers stocked w/ beef jerky, m&ms, gatorade, and wild turkey. Emergency gels were stashed inside recycled shoes hanging from tree branches along the route. Finish beers and hot food were enjoyed at Single Speed Brewing at 4 p.m. that afternoon. No frills, tough people, appetite for adventure, and an appreciation for exploring on our own two feet. Bring that attitude and we'll supply incredible scenery, fun times, and smiles for days.
